Each week I place a code online, which I call ‘Frequency of the Week”. I have been doing this for years, to help people (myself included) to find new insights. This week the frequency is Calling, I chose it because I feel that the return to ‘normal life’ from before the lockdown, can bring a lot into movement.
Perhaps the obligatory staying at home was fine for you and you finally had the opportunity to think about essential life questions. Such as, ‘who am I?’, ‘where am I standing now?’ and ‘what do I really want?’ If so, then there is every chance that you quickly return to the small details of your work and the responsibilities of your social life. The question is then: ‘how do you stay in contact with what is floating deep inside you?’
A slumbering consciousness
What is a calling? I can only describe this from an example. A calling is not something like a goal or an action plan. It is not a job or a chosen activity. Even though everything that you do with pleasure and passion in your life encircles it, the feeling of a calling can be a vague or powerful thing at the same time. It is what drives us to be a person and to have an adventure every day, which we as a soul beings have chosen, with all the fears and dangers included. It is what makes us get out of bed in the mornings.
I will give you an example. Three months ago, I was extremely busy. I was in the middle of a renovation project to create a new space for workshops and retreats. The plan was to make an intimate living room, where we could go into the depths with one another. We were going to call it ‘The Living’. There were many things to be done, to facilitate what we had in mind. Not the easiest DIY project but I was looking forward to the new challenge that was awaiting me. I could get so excited about the moment, when we would be open. The diary was full of activities, with an extensive program, which I would certainly enjoy every week.
On the surface there was the realization between nothing and working hard to set something new in motion, with the result to inspire people in a new way. Under the outer surface, a lot was happening in me. There was a constant feeling of being hungry, a sort of ‘waiting for’ which I can best describe as a slumbering consciousness. Something that reminded me of why I do what I do. It wanted to be made. It still wanted to connect with situations in which I can feel my extra value and makes the deep reasons of my existence become even clearer. Look at it as activating the soul: you become more ‘awake’. On the way to The Living the feeling just got stronger and stronger.
The essence of what you do
The real awakening would turn out to be quite different. Suddenly something that I had no influence on. It happened during the press conference from the Prime Minster who announced that because of the Corona virus, we would go into a temporary lockdown. All events were cancelled. Bars, restaurants and museums had to close. And even I could say goodbye to the opening of The Living. Suddenly I was standing there: between the boxes, pots of paint and DIY materials. I had to cancel everything that I had in my diary. Hmmm, what now? I thought. But strangely enough something happened in me that took away all the disappointment. I felt something loosening: a great fire in my heart. I had to think about all the people who would be obliged to stay at home, caught in an atmosphere of fear and passiveness. I could have been fed up but instead of that I felt called inside to get going into action. My soul screamed: ‘This is the time! Now you have to react!’ And so, I threw everything to one side and began with a sprint in the shortest possible time, to do everything I could to bring people out of their fear and bring them to love and positivity.
In the weeks that followed after the announcement of the lockdown, I did not hesitate for a moment. I began with Cosmic Care, an online workshop focused on connecting with healing frequencies from the universe, something which I had never developed as quickly before, if I had not felt the enormous drive that I have now. Based on the facts that I had every reason to throw my gloves into the ring, but the calling in my soul elevated me above each and every obstacle. I felt motivation, like never before, and still do. It is this power that you cannot put into words, except that you go through thick and thin to achieve it. You feel carried. You feel the essence and also the urgency of what you are doing. You feel the reasons why you are actually here.
Activating your Calling
How can you activate your calling? Sometimes it’s just a question of patience. It may be that you are suddenly touched by something and that makes the wait worthwhile. But you cannot remain endlessly waiting for something. Sometimes you have to accept that you may not actually feel it. Then you have to move on and try and come into situations where the chance is bigger that the fire inside you will be ignited. It could be that something happens outside you which makes it suddenly happen. It is also possible that something is released in you. The question can bring up the feeling is: why am I here on this earth? You don’t have to have an answer right away, only the question can bring the process into motion.
When I think about the Corona crisis, then this has been a bad time for a lot of people. But if you are for example, a doctor, a virologist, coach, therapist or journalist, then this is your time. It is this period when you will be called to become active and make a contribution. Where you are touched in the essence of what you do. But it does not only have to be professionally. It can happen in anyone who feels connected to the welfare of people. You can awaken your calling with many small things, beginning with the people around you. Tune yourself to the groups to which you are a part of, and then ask yourself: what do we all need? What can make us all happy? What can improve all our lives? And what can my contribution be?
You are here for a reason
If there is something that I really believe it, it is that no one is privileged to experience his or her calling. It is not a gift. It is an outcome of a lot of small things. Everyone can activate the fire in themselves. It is art of discovering what touches you in life. What makes you happy? What makes you emotional. What touches you deep in your soul?
For some it is art, or music. For another it’s being a witness to the problems in the world. Another feels called if a loved one is ill or dying. Discover what the moments were in your life, when you were touched intensely. That the power within was freed to do something that you were not able to do before or did not dare to do. What was the reason? Often you can recognize a pattern, which says a lot about you and what you came here to do.
Don’t step into the pitfall by designing your life for example, to the making of a career or connecting these sorts of situations. I repeat again: your calling is not a job. It is not a formula for success. Your calling is a feeling of doing the right thing at the right moment. Often that calls for adjustment and sometimes for a complete change of course. It is the invitation to accept life. It is doing what is necessary to bring the best of you to the surface. It is free-ing your soul.
This week make contact with situations where you can say a resounding yes to life. Write it down and let it motivate you to bring yourself into similar situations more often. Right now, whilst we are recovering from the Corona crisis, it is excellent to keep reminding yourself why you are here. Your life is not a coincidence. You are here for a reason: who you really are and why you came here.
I wish you a lot of fire and inspiration in the coming week!
From heart to heart,
